I feel this needs mentioning: the reason why PvP looks the way it does is almost certainly due to the requirement to build the game for last-gen consoles. Both PS4 and Xbone could easily run much larger PvE environments and use better PvP architecture. But since Destiny had to be built for X360 and PS3, they had to compromise the experience on the new consoles. D2 should be a fully upgraded experience purely because Bungie can now do more. I don't expect they will implement dedicated servers (hope springs eternal) but faster tick rates and other improvements should be easy to implement now.
